The Lancaster/Groveton area is the gateway to The Great North Woods. This area has become a popular destination for those seeking the beauty of the Northern White Mountains and the friendliness of its inhabitants.

The Lancaster Fair: September 1-6, 2010. The undisputed king is the Lancaster Fair that has been open for 138 years in succession.The Labor Day weekend extravaganza spotlights agriculture activities, a large midway, 4-H exhibits, diverse musical entertainment and motorized competitions (pulling events and the ever-popular Demolition Derby), The grounds also boast wide clean midways and free parking.
                                                                                                                        From the Alexander Hall, where vegetables (including the county' s largest pumpkin), flowers, and Grange exhibits are displayed ,  to the other end of the fairgrounds for horse pulling events, oxen skills competitions, sheep dog trials, and tractor pulls, one can sense the pulse of the region, its history, its roots, and enduring family values.  
                                                                                                                            On weekend nights, likely as not, a nationally known musical group will be entertaining largest sing-a-long in the area. Hunting and Fishing: The area is known for it's outstanding hunting and fishing. For the latest fishing and hunting information, follow the link belwo the the New Hampshire Fish and Game website. Here you will find all of the information that you will need to fish and hunt safely and legally.

Riverside Speedway: The northern most 1/4 mile track in the state. It features the ACT tour and regular Saturday night events.

Cohos Trail: If you love to hike this is a trail system that brings you up close to mother nature. This trail system was touted as the best in the area by National Geographic Adventurer Magazine.

Waterfalls: Thanks to the mountainous terrain and numerous rivers and streams in New Hampshire, the state has more than 100 waterfalls. Most are in the White Mountains. Some are visible from the road, like Silver Cascade and Flume Cascade which are on the north side of Route 302 in Crawford Notch. Others require a walk or hike.
